Podcast drama performance features WOAPA student
WOAPA student Nia was recently selected to perform in two drama podcasts for Chipping Norton Theatre.
Before the Covid-19 Lockdown, Nia was about to make her debut with the prestigious National Youth Musical Theatre in the Timothy Knapman & Stuart Matthew Price Musical: "Imaginary" which was to go out on tour during summer 2020.
We were delighted to hear that Nia had been selected to appear in two drama podcasts being put together by Chipping Norton Theatre during the recent Lockdown (more details and links to the podcasts below).
Nia has worked with the Theatre at Chipping Norton before, having appeared in three pantomimes there: 'Puss In Boots', 'Robinson Crusoe & The Pirate Queen' and 'Sleeping Beauty'.
In summer 2019, Nia also appeared in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon.
In addition to appearing on stage, Nia is also an accomplished musician, playing Violin, and attends the Guildhall School of Music, Junior Department.
Nia, who lives near Faringdon, has been a Performing Arts student at WOAPA for seven years and in that time, has sung at Blenheim Palace and performed in a music video for 'The Yogscast' (which has had over 150 thousand YouTube views).
She was a featured dancer in Park Promotions' video of 'The Locomotion' & 'Reach For The Stars', took part in recording WOAPA's 'Winter Wonderland' CD and has performed with WOAPA in Witney's annual Christmas Lights switch-on events.
Nia has also been a member of WOAPA's 'Showchoir' (Witney Youth Choir).
For the "Speak as One" community writing project, Chipping Norton Theatre challenged writers to create a short piece of drama for voices. The project received almost 40 submissions from writers young and old and selected some of their favourites for recording and sharing, using a cast of professional actors.

West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts is an independent Theatre School for children aged 4-16 years, which operates at weekends during the standard academic term.
Our classes are led by experienced tutors whose skills in working with young people enable our students to develop at their own pace, and encourage them to reach their true potential.
Providing quality tuition in the three disciplines of Singing, Dance and Drama, our classes ensure that your child receives the individual attention he or she deserves.
We promote a positive environment - where students have fun as they celebrate their individuality and achievements.
Working as part of a team, students are encouraged to be creative and become multi-disciplined, all-round performers.
At WOAPA, we take pride in going that extra mile. We offer fantastic additional opportunities to our students and have assisted our students to appear in local productions, professional stage shows (locally and national tours) in film, television and advertisements.
We regularly invite industry professionals to our school, to provide master-class sessions, giving our students access to work with performers at the top of their game.
Previous students have been successful in gaining places at prestigious drama schools and organisations (Royal Welsh college of Music & Drama, NYMT National Youth Music Theatre, Guildhall school of music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Oxford School of Drama)
We also offer opportunities to qualify for Trinity College 'Arts Awards' in-house - assisted and moderated by our award-winning mentor.
In April 2019, 60 students took LAMDA exams with 100% pass rate.
A large number of our students come to us via recommendation from parents of children already enrolled with us.
