WOAPA alumni student heads for the London stage

Congratulations to Thom Conroy who is about to make his London theatre debut this summer with the prestigious National Youth Music Theatre

Thom will be playing Clarinet, Saxophone and Flute with the National Youth Music Theatre in a newly-commissioned musical written by 'Noisemaker'; the award-winning musical writing partnership of Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie

The production will be directed by Kate Golledge. Musical direction is by Chris Poon and choreography by Darragh O'Leary.

Thom will join the Orchestra for the world premiere of this new musical production: "Legend Trippers"

The standard of auditions for musicians was particularly high this year and gaining a place within the NYMT 2019 company represents a truly remarkable achievement - well done Thom!

About Legend Trippers

The writing team have been describing the show as a cross between the Famous Five, Stranger Things and Scooby Doo!

LEGEND TRIPPERS is an action-packed new musical for young people using joyous, energetic storytelling and song to examine the legends we’re passing on today, and how we might go about questioning them.

The show will be premiered at The Other Palace in London as part of NYMT's 2019 Season and will feature a cast of 28 exceptional young people from across the UK.

Thomas is currently studying 'Cello at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

A multi-instrumentalist, Thomas also plays Saxophone, Clarinet, Oboe, Flute, Piano a variety of 'strings' and anything else he can lay his hands on.

His most exotic instrument to date is a Chinese Erhu, imported specially for him as a gift.

Thomas has played in Orchestras in the Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Royal Albert Hall, London.

He really enjoys playing in the pit orchestra for musicals, which he often does locally, in his home county of Oxfordshire and he is particularly looking forward to joining NYMT this summer for Legend Trippers.
