WOAPA Choir at John Blandy School to sing at Dorchester Abbey
WOAPA's Choir at John Blandy School in Southmoor near Faringdon is currently rehearsing to perform in a concert to be held at the world-famous Dorchester Abbey.
WOAPA's Choir at John Blandy School will be joining a massed choir of 250 children from 10 different Oxfordshire Primary Schools, accompanied by a youth band and with young guest players.
This year will be NAPE’s (National Association of Primary Education) thirty fifth "Festival of Voices" and features children aged 8 to 11 years. Children from all over the county join together for a wonderful concert in a fantastic setting.
About the choir
The new Choir at John Blandy has proved very popular, with 30 singers aged 7yrs+ already signed up.
The Choir meets at the school on Tuesdays during term-time, 3.00 - 4.00pm.
The choir Conductor is Louise Conroy who has taught in primary schools in Oxfordshire for over 25 years and is also a 'Young Carer's Champion'.
She has been Musical Director for many school productions including A Christmas Carol, The Wizard of Oz, Hosanna Rock and Joseph and the Amazing Techni-color Dreamcoat.
Louise trained with the Association of British Choral Directors, tutored by conductors Amy Bebbington and Sarah Tenant-Flowers.
