Children drama classes at Madley Park - Springfield School, Witney

July 2012

WOAPA – West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts (Witney, Oxfordshire) are teaming up with Springfield School, Witney, to provide an inclusive, after-school, singing dance and drama class for students at Springfield, through which valuable life skills can be developed.

WOAPA is West Oxfordshire’s newest performing arts academy whose stage school for children, offering singing dancing and acting classes to children aged 4 – 16, operates at weekends in Witney.

WOAPA Principal, Brian Conroy, was previously a founder-director of Witney-based ‘Wild Theatre Co’, which gave opportunities to young people with physical and learning disabilities in performance.

‘Wild Theatre Co’ successes included performances at The Royal Albert Hall and Festival Hall, London, as well as appearances on central TV and Songs of Praise.

As well as delivering tuition in singing dance and drama, the after-school classes, which start in September, aim to develop:

·         Increased confidence

·         Growing self-esteem

·         An expanding imagination

·         Creativity

·         Co-ordination

“We had some requests from parents to look into the possibility of providing after school classes in performing arts” said Gwen Taylor - Out of School Liaison Officer at Springfield School, Witney. “We are really looking forward to working with WOAPA“

“We are so excited to be taking our own style of performing arts tuition into Springfield school” added Brian.
